Thailand Trip 2004!
Riding
Elephants in the North of Thailand
with Lhisu Hill Tribe
This was
by far the best part of the trip for us. Northern Thailand
is really something to see!
The people
that run this Elephant Training camp are a tribal people with their own
language. Most of them also speak Thai. Traditionally they used elephants to do
logging operations on the steep Thai hills where heavy equipment could not go.
The tourist trade is far safer for both these people and for the elephants, and
they make more profit.

More of Northern
Thailand
Below are pictures of Chiang Mai,
which was where we stayed in Northern Thailand.
Chiang Mai is the second largest city in Thailand, and I really preferred it to
Bangkok. In
Chiang Mai there is better shopping, better food, more culture, and the people
are just so friendly. Included are pictures of Chedi
Luang Temple
and our 12 hour sleeper train from Bangkok
to Chiang Mai.

King's Royal
Palace, Bangkok
Bangkok wore us out after only a few
days, but the King's Royal
Palace and the area
surrounding were alone worth the trip!
Pictured are some of the various
temples and murals, and Jenn with Spanish Actress Maribel Verdu, whom we met in
the gift shop!

Other Pictures of Bangkok
There were also loads of other
sights in Bangkok,
including tons of guilded Buddhas!

Below is a view from aTuk Tuk, an
open air 3 wheeled Moto (Moped) that is the fastest, and probably most
dangerous, way to get around Bangkok!

Southern Thailand: The Islands
In the South of Thailand we
stayed on Koh Samui, Koh meaning island. Pictured is a little of Ang Thong
National Park, a chain of Islands only recently opened up and formerly used
exclusively by the Thai Militairy.
